Location:Located in South Central Montana, in the hills east of the Helena Valley, Pretty Prairie Kennel is owned and operated by Steve and Rae Brown. German Shorthair Pointers with hunting and conformation blood lines are the foundation of their new kennel.
Mission Statement:
Pretty Prairie Kennel strives to produce healthy German Shorthaired Pointer dogs. Our purebred German Shorthaired Pointers are bred to hunt, point, track and retrieve game with the best possible conformation. A structurally sound German Shorthaired Pointer, while hunting, will float across the field and is a pleasure to watch. We look forward to providing you the opportunity to acquire your new family pet. We believe in finding suitable homes and responsible breeding and dog ownership. We take the purchase of your pure bred versatile dog very seriously.
Company Profile:Both Steve and Rae Brown were raised in upland country in Montana. They left Montana for a 20 year adventure to live in the urban community of Seattle-Tacoma. In 2005 they returned for a holiday visit with family and Steve went upland hunting with his brother and his brother's pointing lab. After watching a bird dog work and recognizing the need for a well bred dog, Steve decided he needed a gun dog. Steve and Rae returned to Seattle to research the various breeds. Through a recommendation from a relative it was suggested he consider purchasing a German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). Steve researched GSP breeders extensively in Washington State. He decided to purchase a GSP from Leo Mittag, from No-Mars Kennel who has 36 years of breeding, testing, and competition experience. After purchasing their first GSP they decided that it was time to return to MT and to the activities they grew up with. Rae, who had never hunted, started venturing out with the gang for hunting trips and became hooked on the hunt and the dogs. That first hunting season they hunted with their dogs nearly every weekend . Steve and Rae are both new to the arena of pointing dog competitions and training and have thoroughly enjoyed the learning process and the time spent with their dogs. They both believe if they can field start a dog, and someday finish a dog, so can you.
Clubs, Associations and other links: Upon relocating to Montana both Steve and Rae became active in the Montana German Shorthaired Pointer Club and have tested and competed with their dogs through these AKC sanctioned events.
